Macaroni with Cheese

This has been a while…..

I have recently returned from a very enjoyable and long holiday and I got to admit have taken some time to get back into my routine with cooking etc. I have however found myself trawling thru my old favourites from this site as a help to get me back into things

First up on my return is a quite legendary dish from the States that is amazingly simple to get together. One note on it when choosing your cheeses: take parmesan & mozzarella for definite but then you can choose whatever other grated cheese you prefer with those 2

Serves 2 with a lot of leftovers

Ingredients

300g Macaroni
250ml (1 cup) Heavy Cream
250ml (1 cup) Whole Milk
2 tsp white flour
Salt & Pepper
100g Cheese (Fontina, Gruyere, Gouda, Edam)
50g Parmesan
1 small ball Mozzarella
200g cooked Ham
1 clove garlic
Butter for greasing
Chopped mixed (fresh) herbs (optional)

Cooking Utensils
Chopping Board
Sharp Knife
Garlic crusher
Large bowl for mixing
Large Saucepan for pasta
small-medium oven dish

Preheat oven to 200 C

Preparation

- Grease your oven dish with your butter
- Grate your cheese and finely chop your mozzarella

- In a large mixing bowl, mix together your milk, cream, ham, crushed garlic, black pepper, chopped herbs & half of your cheeses

Cooking
- In a pot of salted boiling water cook your Macaroni for 5 minutes until tender but still with a bite. Drain after cooking

- Mix together macaroni with your milk/cream mixture and transfer to your oven dish

- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top
- Bake for 20 minutes in your pre-heated oven until the sauce bubbles and all the cheese melts and begins to form a crust on the top

- Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving

ENJOY!!!

  1. A good easy recipe to cook when you don't want the fuss and bother in a kitchen. Especially a weekend food.
